What’s new – and what’s next – in sustainable asphalt production

Sustainability has been part of the roadbuilding conversation for decades. Yet improvements that make the methods and machines more environmentally friendly continue to gain momentum.

On sustainable asphalt: A tete-a-tete

Sustainability has been part of the road building conversation for decades. Yet improvements that make the methods and machines more environmentally friendly continue to gain momentum.

Green Technology for Indian Roads

The Ghaziabad-based JRD Infratech is using an Ammann ACC 90 CounterMix asphalt-mixing plant in their project to meet the guidelines of the National Green Tribunal and Central Pollution Control Board

GRT introduces advanced road technology in Bihar

Global Road Technology India?s operation announced it has commenced road works on National Highway 2 using its advanced recycling technology with foamed bitumen. GRT is working with lead contractor Soma Enterprises under their concessionaire subsidiary, Soma-Isolux to rehabilitate approximately 74 km of damaged pavement in Bihar. The six-lane construction undertaken by GRT is from Naubatpur to Muthani district.

The Road Ahead

In spite of the government's policy shift towards building four- and six-lane National Highways as concrete roads, plans to construct more rural roads and coastal roads will drive the demand for asphalt plants in the future. EQUIPMENT INDIA explores the road ahead for asphalt plants.

Efficiency Matters

Globally, the past decade saw amazing developments in the hot- mix production technology. In India too, with the entry of global players, OEMs have geared up to offer advanced plants that can produce a variety of mixes - be it low energy / low-temperature asphalt mixes, warm / cold mixes, high percentage RAP mix, high recycling technology

Asphalt Recycling

Millions of tonnes of asphalt have being wasted in the country, when these could be properly treated and recycled for rehabilitation of road projects and new pavements.

Scope for pavement rehabilitation alternatives is huge

Our Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) has no vision for the country. Cannot they spend even 0.01 per cent of the total outlay for training? This is simply unacceptable, says Prof. Prithvi Singh Kandhal, Associate Director Emeritus, National Center for Asphalt Technology, Auburn University, Alabama, USA.

Technology Mania!

Wirtgen Group recently organised 'The Road Technology Days 2014, an international industry rendezvous in Germany that showcased the Group's innovative solutions.

Our vision is to provide a high-quality package for road construction

It is not just about a machine, more importantly, it?s about optimal use of scant resources and how recycling can help achieve the objective of deve?lopment with more economical and environment-friendly methods.
